Mali Health Organizing Project

Last winter, Michael and Doria traveled to Mali in West Africa to visit family who are working there in the capital, Bamako. One afternoon their nephew, Fode Camara, took them on a tour of the village Sikoroni, where he was working for a community development organization implementing several projects in the neighborhood, The effort was structured to organize the community to staff, design and provide services, and even raise funds, rather than as a traditional charitable venture. Must have made an impression, because today Michael let us know he is now on the board of the Mali Health Organizing Project,  and is serving as the organization's volunteer webmaster. The new web site will launch by December 1, and is built on the Orchid content management system - the software and hosting were generously donated by our good friends at Orchid Suites, Inc.
