Members Only Software announces Cumulus

On September 15th, Member's Only Software, Inc will be launching Project Cumulus, a development roadmap that will end with the release of a fully "cloud-based" version of Members Only, our suite of integrated applications for non-profit and association management.  Users will start Cumulus from their web browser, and will be able to run it on any PC, Mac, or Linux-based computer.

The system will rely on a SOAP-based middleware layer to provide database access and business logic, exactly as our current public-facing web sites now do. The front end will be built in Java, providing the stability and security of a desktop-dwelling application coupled with web-launched convenience and portability. According to Members Only CTO Jochen Heyland, no release date has yet been projected for the new application - but will be sometime toward the end of next year.

However, current Member's Only users will begin to see the fruit of these labors as soon as the next service pack, as interface ideas and capabilities developed for the new application begin to appear in Members Only for Windows as well. According to Heyland, these include the use of  HTML and templates within the Windows app to create friendlier, more readable information displays. These templates will give Members Only users much more control  than they've had before over the appearance of displays. In addition, module home pages will make it easier to keep track of all the reports, tasks, and utilities connected to each of Members Only's major components.  And new supervisory tools will tame the configuration files.

Why Cumulus? Well, the cloud reference is obvious. "But", says Members Only Software president Michael Stein, "what we want to take into the internet cloud is more than technology -- it is our cumulative experience in non-profit and association management.
